Report: Barcelona shelve plans to land Liverpool star

Barcelona have reportedly shelved their plans to try and sign Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho this summer.
Barca have been strongly linked with a move for the Brazil star, despite Liverpool’s insistence that the player is not for sale.
However, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Coutinho is no longer a priority signing for the Spanish giants who have instead turned their attentions to Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti.
It had been reported that Coutinho was keen on a switch to the Nou Camp and an opportunity to work alongside international team-mate Neymar, but new Barca boss Ernesto Valverde favours a move for Verratti over the 25-year-old Reds star.
Coutinho will now report back to Anfield after his summer break and can look forward to another exciting campaign under Jurgen Klopp.
Indeed, Coutinho is expected to have an even bigger role for the Reds next season, with Klopp potentially moving him into a deeper midfield role where he excelled towards the end of last season
