Starsport understands the Red Devils are keen on the 24-year-old and want him to lead the line at Old Trafford next season.
Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Spain international, who he managed during his time at the Bernabeu.
And according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Morata will complete his move to United within 48 hours.
They say Real president Florentino Perez will be the one to publicly announce the move.
Perez wants to stay on good terms with Morata and is willing to let him join the Red Devils - despite wanting to keep him at the Bernabeu.
